A major new venture aims to bring $1 billion worth of U.S. real estate onto the blockchain, spearheaded by Blocksquare and Vera Capital.
This collaboration will leverage Blocksquare’s established blockchain infrastructure to tokenize a diverse portfolio of commercial and multifamily properties across the United States. The initiative signals a significant move in the growing real estate tokenization sector.
The process has already begun, with a $5.4 million commercial asset in Fort Lauderdale successfully converted into digital tokens. Vera Capital is preparing to launch a dedicated digital marketplace, allowing investors worldwide to purchase fractional shares in U.S. properties represented by these tokens.
Blocksquare’s white-label technology serves as the engine for this platform. Tokenization digitizes ownership rights into blockchain-based tokens, effectively representing partial ownership of physical assets.
This approach aims to democratize investment in the U.S. real estate market, bypassing traditional barriers and the need to purchase entire properties. It opens doors for global participants previously excluded from such opportunities.
Vera Capital secured access to Blocksquare’s technology via the Oceanpoint Launchpad program. The firm rapidly gained support, attracting over 100,000 staked $BST tokens in less than an hour, granting it complimentary use of Blocksquare’s full tech suite and marketplace tools.
In line with common decentralized finance (DeFi) practices, individuals who staked their tokens receive rewards in the form of new tokens for supporting the project.
Established in 2012, Vera Capital currently manages over $100 million in real estate assets and provides comprehensive services, including brokerage, development, and property management. Its forthcoming marketplace will initially feature dozens of properties located across seven U.S. states.
This billion-dollar initiative underscores the accelerating interest in tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs), potentially transforming access to institutional-grade real estate for a broader, global pool of investors.
