The quest for verifiable and secure crypto data has taken a significant step forward. Space and Time, a decentralized database platform leveraging cutting-edge zero-knowledge proofs, has announced a major evolution in its operational structure.
On Tuesday, the blockchain initiative revealed the establishment of the Space and Time Foundation. This newly formed, independent body is tasked with guiding the protocol’s future direction and fostering its ecosystem.

The Foundation, although technically formed in 2024, was formally introduced as the protocol’s non-profit arm. It aims to progressively take over governance responsibilities, steering the platform towards greater decentralization and long-term stability with its own board of directors.
Key priorities for the Foundation include managing developer grant programs, cultivating a vibrant community, and ensuring transparency within the protocol. Furthermore, achieving global scalability, both technically and legally, is a core objective.
Concurrent with this development, the original driving force behind the protocol, Space and Time Labs, is rebranding to MakeInfinite Labs. This for-profit entity will concentrate on research, development, serving enterprise clientele, and advancing the core technology.
Space and Time distinguishes itself in the decentralized data landscape through its integration of zero-knowledge proofs with data queries. This enhances trust by making data verifiable without compromising privacy.
Its core innovation, known as “Proof of SQL,” generates a ZK proof for every database query executed. While queries happen off-chain for efficiency, the resulting proof is recorded on a blockchain smart contract, confirming the data’s integrity without revealing the data itself.
This ZK-proof mechanism not only secures data but also significantly boosts application scalability. By processing most data transactions off-chain and using the blockchain primarily as a verification layer for proofs, the system avoids common network congestion.
