The Genius Yield team is now set to develop a digital onboarding system specifically designed for asset owners. Following this, the focus will shift to implementing the infrastructure for token creation and the distribution of associated rewards, paving the way for the platform’s eventual launch.
Cardano’s ecosystem hosts several projects exploring RWA applications. Empowa, for instance, is developing a property finance platform targeting the African market, while Tiamonds facilitates the tokenization and fractional trading of physical diamonds.
RWAs represent a compelling use case for blockchain technology, involving the digital representation of tangible assets on-chain. These resulting crypto tokens can signify fractional ownership, unlocking liquidity in traditionally illiquid markets such as fine art and real estate.
The market for tokenized assets is already substantial. According to a Brickken report from March, the total value locked (TVL) in tokenized assets reached $50 billion, with tokenized real estate accounting for $30 billion of that total.
Looking ahead, the potential is vast. The same report highlighted a McKinsey forecast projecting the RWA market could surge to an estimated $2 trillion by the year 2030, underscoring the significant opportunity Cardano and its ecosystem projects are pursuing.
